Introducing Jack Lambert Honegger
By Jessica Honegger - Friday, October 07, 2011

“He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son that He loves.” (Colossians 1:13)

In less than 24 hours in Rwanda, the judge pronounced Jack officially ours. This usually takes about 3-5 days. Every building we went to, every official we met, every street that we drove, it felt like an army had been dispatched by Heaven. We can still only be with him during the day and have several more signatures to get his passport and visa.  You are in the journey with us and we pray you will continue to be. Thank you.

During our first day with him outside of the orphanage we took a 2-hour nap together, played soccer, cars and ate a ton (he ate eggs, chipati, French fries, ham & cheese, and carrots). He eats insane amounts and seems to fall asleep really easily. The crazy thing is that it really feels like he knows we are his parents. When we are out and about, he won’t allow anyone else to hold him or comfort him.  The whole day has felt surreal.  Getting to know one another is a journey, but we are off to a great start! I can’t thank you enough for your prayers! (and all the clothes we brought are too big! We are thinking he is closer to 2.5 after all).

Thank you for all the texts, Facebook messages, and emails! It is fun to feel you rejoicing with us on the other side of the world.  We are extremely grateful to have Wynne Elder of Wynne Elder Photography here.  She and her husband are adopting from Ethiopia so it has been extra special for her to witness our union. She captured our first of many moments together below.

{I have ten thousand stories to share that will rock your world, including how our attorney survived the genocide, but a fun one: We skyped with Amelie and Holden today and Jack immediately started waving hello. It was our first time  since meeting him to see him do this! Again- I just get a sense of God having prepared his heart for our family).
