Through our fair trade sourcing partners, Noonday works with small farmer cooperatives around the world committed to impact. For this Ethiopian coffee, we partner with The Sidama Coffee Farmers' Cooperative Union (SCFCU), which is a development organization and technical adviser that represents thousands of farmers in Ethiopia's southern Sidama region. Since 2001, SCFCU has funded the construction of roads, bridges, electric supply stations, and paid for education for thousands of children. The coffee of the Sidama region is grown "garden style" on homesteads under the cover of indigenous shade trees. The roasting is carefully adjusted to enhance the distinctive qualities of the Sidama natural coffee. By drinking Together Coffee, you are changing the world one cup of coffee at a time.
Beans are best stored between 70-74 degrees Fahrenheit
In Ethiopia, we partner with Artisan Businesses seeking to bring hope and dignified work to women who have been made vulnerable by their circumstances. Many of the women who craft our pieces are beginning new lives after working on the streets of Addis Ababa. Through fair and meaningful work, these women are pulling themselves out of poverty—and rediscovering their value and worth.
As they move through fields of coffee, wheat, and sorghum, Ethiopian farmers scan the ground for a very different harvest—artillery shells from former conflicts. Local craftsmen melt the shells down to create beautiful beads, then transport the beads to women in Addis Ababa who string them into beautiful accessories. Additionally, handmade leather styles empower marginalized and vulnerable youth living in the city by creating dignified employment opportunities. Their Artisans include former street youth who have been able to transform their lives through intensive training and education. The business harnesses locally sourced materials to create beautiful, high-quality products.
